Tana Bolus was born in Louisville and raised in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Upon graduation from Floyd Central High School she enrolled at Indiana University from which she graduated with distinction with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She is licensed registered nurse in Kentucky and Indiana.

Tana was a cardiac nurse then emergency department nurse at Norton Audubon Hospital for over 25 years. For 23 years she was an instructor of Advanced Cardiac Life Support for Norton Audubon, instructing doctors, nurses and paramedics in Advanced Cardiac Life Support . She maintains her ACLS certification. In 1996 Tana was certified as a Legal Nurse Consultant. She has performed over 1,000 comprehensive medical records reviews for Bolus Law Offices, and select other law firms, since then.

In 2010 Tana was honored with the Norton Healthcare Good Samaritan Award representing the pinnacle of recognition for service excellence at Norton
(click here to view award). The award was in recognition of her efforts to introduce portable defibrillators into 5 Southern Indiana baseball parks with a grant obtained from Horseshoe Foundation and other donations. Just one week after introducing a defibrillator into the ballpark where her sons played, Tana, Dr. Tom Harris, CRNA Spring Harris, and Officer Shawn Kesling utilized the defibrillator to restart the heart of a 37-year-old woman during ultimately lifesaving resuscitative efforts. Angel Glotzbach had collapsed watching her own son playing a game. Tana and her friend, Kristy Smith, a chemist and mother of three, thought AEDs should be present in all NAFC schools, so they worked to procure grants and donations to place Automatic External Defibrillators in all elementary, middle and high schools in the New Albany-Floyd County School system. After placing the AEDS they performed AED training to over 100 members of staff, today the training for AEDs is now included in the staff continuing education. They placed well over 40 AEDs in the community and provided training for anyone who requested it, including private schools, schools outside of NAFC school system, churches, ballparks, and offices. One of the AEDs placed in Floyd Central high school was used on a young athlete who collapsed with sudden cardiac arrest while playing basketball- the AED saved her life. Tana strongly advocates for patients who have been harmed in our healthcare system and believes legal remedy is one of the most effective ways to improve patient safety for everyone. Yes, she likes working with her husband. No, they do not always talk work at home. They have enjoyed the adventures of parenting their four sons.

Tana’s father, Russell Scott (1932-2009), practiced law in New Albany, Indiana for over 30 years and her mother Sharon, (1937-2023) was residential real estate agent for over 35 years.
